The Gem Cube V belongs to DaYan's Gem series, a family of many-sided puzzles cut like gemstones. It turns on eight axes, but four of them move a different set of pieces from the other four, so it does not behave like any standard cube.

Solving runs in stages: one set of corners first, then the edges, then the centres, and each stage needs its own approach. On this stickerless version a coloured bar runs between the rectangular pieces and has to be matched as well, which makes it a step harder than the stickered editions. A good pick for collectors and for solvers who want something new to work out after the WCA events.
